META Stock Rose 35% in a Month, Now Begins to Fall Due To Muse AI

Nasdaq-listed social media heavyweight META experienced a remarkable 35% monthly rally after the debut of its personalized artificial intelligence agent, Muse. Surging past three million downloads to claim the top spot on the App Store, Muse transformed market perception of the firm, pivoting its image from an AI cash-burning laggard into a prospective monetization frontrunner. Driven by this momentum, the company’s shares skyrocketed from a low of $578 to a peak of $779 throughout September 2026.

Yet, the very application responsible for META’s ascent is now triggering its downward correction this week. A recent Guardian investigation revealed that META’s Muse AI inadvertently disclosed a user’s home address to an interested party on Facebook Marketplace, igniting renewed safety fears regarding data leaks for individuals listing items. The AI agent instructed the buyer to head directly to the seller’s residence for pickup, bypassing the seller’s knowledge entirely.

Following the report, META shares tumbled from their $779 high down to $715 over the course of just two trading sessions. Concurrently, CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his net worth drop by $11 billion during this two-day equity slide. Because the seller remained completely uninformed that Muse had shared their residential address to finalize the transaction independently, investors are now growing anxious regarding the app’s functionality.

META Stock Under the Scanner For Privacy and Safety Concerns

These privacy issues surrounding Muse continue to fuel investor skepticism toward META stock. Leadership under Zuckerberg must urgently address vulnerabilities to safeguard user privacy and safety. Autonomous AI agents cannot be allowed to finalize transactions on behalf of sellers or distribute private home addresses simply because a buyer sends an inquiry about a listed item. Failure to gain control over the issue could push META stock beneath the $690 threshold.
