Micron Stock Experts See a Bigger Rally Ahead as HBM Tightens

A severe shortage of HBM, record-breaking earnings, and a cascade of upward analyst revisions are currently propelling the Micron stock rally. Following the October 5 close, the Micron stock price rests at $1,063.96—marking a 272.78% increase year-to-date—while Micron HBM contracts already lock in the majority of its supply for 2027. On Yahoo Finance, the average one-year Micron stock price target sits at $1,535.57. Most analysts maintain a bullish Micron stock forecast, with leadership anticipating an even tighter memory market across 2027 and 2028.

Micron Stock Rally, HBM Demand, Price Targets And Key Risks

Micron HBM Contracts Lock In Record Pricing

Momentum for the Micron stock rally accelerated after fiscal 2026 revenue surged to $133.19 billion, up from $37.38 billion the previous year. Micron announced last Friday that it is expediting HBM capacity expansion across four facilities in Taiwan. Meanwhile, its Mobile and Client division reported an 88% operating margin during the fourth quarter, driven primarily by elevated pricing.

Robust demand for Micron HBM forms a core pillar of the narrative. During the earnings call, Micron Technology Chairman and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra stated:

“We have completed agreements for the vast majority of our calendar 2027 HBM bit supply with significant price increases year over year, narrowing the gross margin gap with conventional DRAM.”

He also noted that Micron is collaborating with Nvidia to deliver the industry’s initial custom HBM4E implementation. The company projects that industry HBM bit shipments will outpace conventional DRAM growth through calendar 2028, sustaining optimism for the Micron stock rally.

Analysts Lift The Micron Stock Price Target

Wall Street continues to adjust its positions in response to the Micron stock rally. Baird boosted its Micron stock price target from $1,280 to $1,520, DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria set a Street-high target of $2,100, and Bank of America maintained its target at $1,550.

Tristan Gerra, analyst at Baird, observed:

“Acute shortages are expected to persist in 2027.”

Conversely, Morgan Stanley’s Joseph Moore takes a more conservative stance with a $1,200 target and a bear-case projection of $675 if the memory cycle dips in 2027. Demonstrating the asset’s volatility, the Micron stock price pulled back 1.02% on Monday.

Micron Stock Forecast And Labor Risks In Taiwan

When pressed by analysts during the earnings call regarding supply constraints, Mehrotra offered a direct assessment:

“In calendar 2027 as well as 2028, we see demand exceeding supply. In fact, we see greater tightness in the industry in 2027 and in 2028 versus 2026. Overall, supply-demand environment is only getting tighter. We do not have line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance.”

This outlook underpins the positive Micron stock forecast leading up to the anticipated December 23 earnings report. Even following the Micron stock rally, shares are valued at roughly 14 times trailing earnings, supported by a trailing EPS of $74.33.

The most prominent threat to the Micron stock rally is located in Taiwan, where labor unions are demanding a 15% profit-sharing arrangement for employees. Following an unsuccessful mediation attempt, the Taoyuan union raised the possibility of a strike vote, while the Taichung union is scheduled to enter its third meeting with management on October 22, 2026.

At present, the Micron stock rally relies heavily on supply scarcity and pricing leverage. Should HBM contracts hold firm and DRAM pricing remain resilient, the Micron stock price could retest its 52-week high of $1,255—roughly 15% higher than the October 5 close. Conversely, a labor strike in Taiwan or a reversal in memory prices would serve as early indicators that the Micron stock rally is losing momentum.
